Digital simulations for meat plant safety training
Exploring immersive learning simulations to help employees understand and practise critical food safety procedures
About the project
This project explored the use of extended reality (XR) as a training tool for meat processing environments. The research examined how immersive digital simulations could complement traditional standard operating procedure (SOP) training by allowing employees to interact with and rehearse important workplace processes.
The challenge
Meat processing facilities must manage significant food safety, contamination, and regulatory compliance risks. While SOPs provide essential guidance, traditional training formats may not give employees opportunities to practise procedures or fully understand how their actions contribute to food safety outcomes.
