Cinthia Watson and Kerry Melville, School of Interdisciplinary Studies

About the project

This research examined the student experience within Conestoga’s general arts and science program. The project gathered insights to support program planning, curriculum review and decisions related to future delivery models and student success.

The challenge

As educational programs evolve, institutions must ensure that delivery methods, scheduling structures and program design continue to meet student needs. The project sought to better understand how students experience the program and identify opportunities to improve learning, engagement and retention.

  • Collected and analyzed information related to the student experience
  • Identified program strengths and opportunities for improvement
  • Supported annual and major program review activities
  • Examined the potential impacts of alternative delivery models
  • Considered implications for scheduling, administration and student support processes

Results

  • Generated insights into student experiences and program effectiveness
  • Identified opportunities to improve program delivery and student outcomes
  • Informed discussions about future program structures and delivery models
  • Provided information to support administrative planning and scheduling
  • Produced findings that may inform similar initiatives across other academic programs

Why it matters

  • Supports evidence-based program development and continuous improvement
  • Helps improve the student learning experience
  • Contributes to improved student retention and engagement
  • Provides guidance for programs considering alternative delivery approaches
  • Informs broader institutional planning and student support initiatives
