About Porta

Porta is a prepared foods manufacturer specializing in premium frozen and refrigerated products.

The challenge

Porta was experiencing packaging limitations affecting their product quality throughout its shelf-life and was looking to reposition a stuffed pasta product for the refrigerated market. The company required support to improve packaging performance and optimize product formulation for new retail conditions.

Approach

  • Reviewed primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging systems
  • Evaluated packaging materials and formats to improve product protection and appearance
  • Assessed shipping configurations and pallet patterns
  • Conducted formulation and process testing to support refrigerated shelf-life
  • Completed shelf-life studies to validate product performance

Results

  • Identified improved packaging materials and processes to enhance product quality
  • Provided alternative packaging designs and shipping recommendations
  • Delivered validated formulation and process improvements for refrigerated products
  • Generated shelf-life data confirming improved product performance
  • Supplied insights to support product relaunch and co-packer engagement

Why it matters
This work supports Porta’s ability to strengthen product quality and expand into new retail opportunities. The project helps:
