Amin Yazdani, PhD, CSP
Executive director, Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness & Performance
Dr. Amin Yazdani is the executive director at the Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness, and Performance (CISWP). Adjunct associate professor at the University of Waterloo and adjunct faculty at Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences. Dr. Yazdani possesses a PhD in kinesiology, as well as M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in occupational health and safety, complemented by a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential.
Dr. Yazdani's research interest centres around standardization of human factor and ergonomics in the design of products and work environments by developing best practices and technical standards. In addition, he has extensive experience in collaborating with small, medium, and large sized organizations to implement organizational-wide approaches to prevent workplace injuries and improve productivity and performance. Dr. Yazdani utilizes multidisciplinary and collaborative approach, to developing evidence-informed practices for equity, diversity, and inclusion, in the workplace. Dr. Yazdani spearheaded the development of several Canadian standards and provincial guidelines to make workplaces safer and more inclusive for Canadian workforce.
Dr. Yazdani is a member of the Canadian Standards Association's Occupational Health and Safety Strategic Steering Committee, and he chairs and co-chairs several national and international standard development technical committees. His contributions have earned him multiple awards and recognition, including the prestigious 2018 Standard Council of Canada's Young Leader Award.
